“I make art in both traditional and contemporary ways simultaneously. The paintings are rooted in various theories of painting like music, materials, story telling and spirituality. I exist in the contemporary present as an artist, I have the ability to time travel back and forth through visual space and time (metaphorically and mentally) via representation and the spoken word, posing questions of what it means to be human, and acting as a conduit that conjures stories, illusions, representations and fragments of our subjective and collective consciousness, both seen and heard through a combination of pigments, oil and materials.”
“acting as a conduit that conjures stories, illusions, representations and fragments of our subjective and collective consciousness”
Morris has also delivered a series of lectures on contemporary painting practices and art history at 'The Studio Door' in North Park, San Diego (2016). The lectures were centered around the different potentials contemporary painting can offer as a medium and the philosophical, cultural and social powers of the medium throughout history and within the current contemporary climate, previously he has facilitated practical painting classes with 'The San Diego Art Department' and 'Art on 30th' in San Diego, CA.
